about.
Ruby Sanders (b. 2001, London) is a multidisciplinary artist working across moving image, photography, and performance. A graduate of Central Saint Martins, Sanders explores the violent theatre of femininity through discomfort and nature. Her practice operates at the intersection of beauty and brutality, where womanhood is both a mask and a weapon.
.
At its core, Sanders’ practice is a feminist resistance: against erasure, aesthetic obedience, and the myth of fragility. Nature in her work is not passive but sentient. The female body becomes a terrain, masked, mythic, and ungovernable. Sanders insists that survival is not submission, but a ritual act of becoming: bloody, beautiful, and defiantly alive.
'My art celebrates the strength and beauty inherent in the female form, exploring our connection to nature and the changing seasons. I immerse myself in the elements with elegance and ritualism, dancing in mud, rain, and sea. Girlhood into womanhood is portrayed through encounters with nature's brutality. Honouring our physical forms, representing grace amid pain and harsh realities. '
